On Wednesday, iSchoolAfrica hosted a breakfast session in Durban to facilitate a dialogue around technology solutions for numeracy and inclusion.
The Nichols Primary School team from Edendale presented their experiences implementing the Numeracy programme in an inclusive environment for students with learning barriers. Pat Fynn, programme champion testified to how the iPad removed the stigma of remedial class. She stressed how the iSchoolAfrica Numeracy programme builds learner self-esteem. Last night, the EduWeek Awards were held in Cape Town - an important leading event and platform which recognises and celebrates the success of Africa’s education sector. 9 September 2017 Well done to Parkfields Primary School for being the Growsmart 2017 winners, winning the iSchoolAfrica programme for their school, including facilitation, iPad lab and accessories. Growsmart is an educational programme aimed at addressing educational development in Maths, Science, Literacy and Story writing in schools across the Western Cape. It is proudly sponsored by Growthpoint Properties and works in collaboration with the Western Cape Department of Education. Learners from 150 schools in the Western Cape compete. Growsmart and iSchoolAfrica attended a handover ceremony on 12th September 2017, at the school to do an official handover of the amazing prize.
