Reece Slade

Founder of Earth Kids Org

Reece Slade is a 17 year old children’s rights activist from Cape Town. He is the founder and director of a Non-profit Organization called Earth Kids Org that works to solve the challenges faced in regards to pollution and early-childhood development, and was runner-up to the Turner Social Change Prize at the World Summit for Nobel Peace Laureates in Mexico 2019. He works with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child to protect children’s rights worldwide through projects such as the #CovidUnder19 initiative and as a mentor for Child Rights Connect. He is passionate about solving and motivating others to solve issues that youth face, especially in South Africa.

Brad Graves

Senior Wetland Ecologist

Brad Graves is a Senior Wetland Ecologist and Entrepreneur who hold a BSc. Honours degree in Geograpy. He was a member of the GroundTruth Wetlands division. Key areas of expertise relating to wetlands included delineation, functional and health assessments, upper level environmental planning, wetland rehabilitation/creation, water use licence applications and project management. He is the business owner of FF Wetland Science, building a solid foundation for future generations.

Dr. Walter Fourie

Dr. Walter Fourie, Director at OFT Toxicology, is a specialist in the field of environmental engineering and its application to industrial complexes. Particular focus on providing a statistically valid business case for all environmental and process related improvements, as well as strategic environmental management. Expert in X-Ray Computed Tomography and Finite Element Analysis. Environmental and human health toxicological assessments. Development of novel battery materials. Specialties: Environmental Engineering, Water and Waste Management, Six Sigma, Process Improvement, Toxicology, Research and Development of Battery Materials, High Purity Manganese

Eco Fashion and Arts

MicGalaw is a brand name that is inspired by the love & passion we have for Eco Fashion and Arts. We introducing a new South African street style, artistic and eco-friendly fashion brand for young people from the ages of 17 to 35 years, the middle and upper working class. Who have a huge interest in Eco fashion in Gauteng, Cape town and Durban. MicGalaw is co-founded by two young women; Phumudzo Muthanyi (Managing Director) and Mbali Mokgosi (Marketing Director) who are carving out a very important niche in the South African Green/ fashion/ recycling/ upliftment and entrepreneurial space. We both have a background in Human Resources Management, Fashion Design and Phumudzo has some background in electrical engineering. We have been operating our business for a period of 3 years and only been selling for a period of a year. We manufacture bags accessories home-craft and furniture from recyclable materials, mainly we focus on four different types of Plastics such as LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE & PET. Which are considered as a safer plastic option for food and drink use, but unfortunately it’s quite difficult to be recycled.

Mawande Mbola

Project manager WESSA Schools Programme

Mawande Mbola based in East London, working for WESSA as a project manager within the schools unit. I studied Environmental Management at the Cape Peninsula University of technology, I also have Project Management certificate obtained at the Nelson Mandela University. I am a passionate about conservation and sustainable development. I also have huge interest in the field of Renewable energy.

Nick Alcock

Managing Member at Khanyisa Projects

Nick Alcock is a Professional Civil Engineer with a Masters in Urban Infrastructure design and management. He hasbeen working in the water and sanitation sector for the past 20 years. He is currently a managing member of Khanyisa Projects, a developmental organisation based in the eThekwini Municipality (Durban), South Africa focussing on water, sanitation, biogas and other sustainable solutions

Zee Pochee

iSchoolAfrica

Zaheerah Pochee is an iSchoolAfrica facilitator and is currently employed at iSchoolAfrica in Johannesburg. She joined iSchoolAfrica and the ThinkAhead team in June 2018. Her formal qualifications include a BA Degree in Child and Family Psychology, PGCE ECD and Foundation Phase. She is equipping herself with skills and knowledge relating to various digital technologies such as coding and ICT, which she believes will assist her to understand and where necessary, expose the learners and teachers to the possibility of using these technologies as they start to feature more and more within the school environments. With over ten years of teaching experience and a passion for innovation and the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning methods, she is part of an ICT integration initiative that incorporates the iSchoolAfrica model into the curriculum.
